Shimla: Father-Daughter Killed in Landslide Amid Red Alert, Wife Survives

Shimla. Amid heavy rainfall and a red alert in Himachal Pradesh, a major landslide triggered a tragic incident in Junga tehsil of Shimla district. In Patwar Circle Doubleu, under the sub-mohal Jot area, a house was buried under debris, leading to the death of a father and his young daughter, while the wife narrowly escaped.

The victims have been identified as Virendra Kumar (35), son of Jai Singh, and his 10-year-old daughter. Sadly, their cattle also perished in the landslide. Miraculously, Virendra Kumar’s wife survived, as she was outside the house when the incident occurred. Meanwhile, in Kotkhai, another landslide caused a house to collapse, resulting in the death of an elderly woman, Kalawati, who was buried under the rubble.

In Rohru’s Dayar Moli village, multiple houses were reported to be at risk following a late-night landslide. As a precautionary measure, four families were shifted to safer locations. According to locals, early on Monday morning, a house collapsed in Chol village of Kotkhai’s Adarsh Nagar due to a landslide. Elderly woman Kalawati, wife of Shri Balram Singh, was trapped under the debris. Despite villagers’ desperate attempts to rescue her, she could not be saved.
